HOW TO BOOTSTRAP A STARTUP

Investment capital for startups is extremely hard to come by. Professional investors are looking for investment opportunities that are much larger and more profitable that most startups can ever aspire to be, and they will generally invest only after a startup has gotten proven market traction. This leaves the vast majority of startups dependent upon funding from Friends and Family, which has been the primary source of startup funding since the first colonist decided to set up a smithy.
Unfortunately, modern technology enterprises are a lot more complicated and resource hungry than smithies. This presentation covers the techniques for getting a startup into operation with a minimum of cash. The seminar explores techniques for time shifting payments to coincide with revenues, substituting equity for cash, and using barter to secure resources. It is liberally sprinkled with real accounts of these techniques in action.
